Physiotherapy visits. We come to you!

We focus on helping your child participate in their day to day functional activities:

moving around, getting dressed, sitting steady at their school desk, playing at lunchtime,

joining in sport and going  along for family walks and bike rides.

  • helping parents with ideas for play to help their children learn to move

  • formal assessments of their development are available

We help with queries around typical development, head shape, torticollis and asymmetrical movement patterns.

We also see babies who have specific diagnoses, to start early intervention nice and early.

We support your child to participate in their everyday life

Participation is key:

We employ a "top down" approach based on the World Health Organisation's International Classification of Function for Children and Youth (ICF-CY).

We've written up and example here, where a child's participation goal was to play in a Saturday soccer team with his peers. Other examples of participation goals could be:

  • sitting in a supported high chair at the table with family to participate in meal times

  • participating in a community based swimming lesson

  • participating in play time at childcare, kinder or school with support to engage with peers

  • sitting at the table with peers for table top activities at kinder

  • sitting with peers on the floor to participate in circle time at kinder

To achieve participation goals, we are looking at the big picture alongside you, you child and others involved. We consider the participation goal, the activity and skills that make up the activity, the child's body functionas and structure, personal factors, and environmental factors (which could include room set up, equipment, and upskilling teachers, or developing inclusive values amongst peers).
