The Disability Sport and Recreation Festival is coming up!
We love to help the families we work with to participate in inclusive sport and recreation options. We're in the pool each day, and most weeks will see us visiting footy practise or a ballet class, or helping to work on a tennis swing.
We're happy to come along to your community based activities, or to practise some skills so your child is more confident when they go along to their next team practise.
The Disability Sport and Recreation Festival is coming to Fed Square next Wednesday!
It's a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to connect with accessible and inclusive sport and recreation options, celebrating physically active lifestyles.
Wednesday 3rd December, 10 am to 3pm at Federation Square.
It will include: a community come and try day; a corporate wheelchair basketball competition; and the schools challenge.
The pop in program is running 1st to 7th December across Melbourne. Have a look at their page to see if there's an activity near you that you might be intersted in.
There's skate boarding, tennis, swimming, basketball, zumba, and plenty more :-)
Possibly a hit with the kids will be free weekend entry to the Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary or Werribee Open Range Zoo when you show your carer or companion card. (The website is not clear if kids have free entry too, it might be worthwhile checking).
There's also a webinar on Thursday 4th December at 12pm you can register for, for free, titled "Health Professionals – Key Players in Disability Sport".
The Festival is run by Disability Sport & Recreation, a Victorian charity "committed to improving the health outcomes of Victorians with disability through sport and recreation".
