NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) roll out dates for Victoria and New South Wales are set
The NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) yesterday issued a media release outlining the roll out dates for Victoria and New South Wales.
We've been waiting for these so that we can plan ahead so here they are!
Hume/ Moreland 1st March 2018 (Hume, Moreland) Brimbank/ Melton 1st October 2018 (Brimbank, Melton) North East Melbourne 1st July 2016!!!! (Whittlesea, Darebin, Nilumbik, Yarra, Banyule) Western Melbourne 1st October 2018 (Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Moonee Valley, Wyndam) Southern Melbourne 1st September 2018 (Casey, Cardinia, Greater Geelong) Outer eastern Melbourne 1st November 2017 (Knox, Maroondah, Yarra Ranges)
How do we plan for the NDIS?
The NDIA has a lot of information about who is eligible and the processes on their website.
We will also endeavour to communicate all information we can glean from the NDIA with the families we are working with to help them plan for the transition.
The NDIS media release states:
"The Australian Government has signed agreements with the NSW and Victorian governments for the full roll out of the NDIS across the two states. The NSW and Victorian bilateral agreements reinforce the Commonwealth’s commitment to delivering a sustainable National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) that will benefit all Australians. The overriding priority for the Australian Government in the negotiation of these agreements is to ensure participants are at the centre of the scheme and are able to exercise choice and control over the delivery of disability supports and services. Today’s announcement is a positive step forward as it provides certainty to people with disability, their families, carers and service providers by providing a clear timeline for the roll out of the NDIS in NSW and Victoria. It gives providers the opportunity to begin planning for the transition to a competitive open market and to secure a stable workforce. The announcement does not have an immediate impact on current transition arrangements for providers and the services they are currently providing. As we continue with transition, the Department of Social Services (the Department) will communicate specific information regarding your local area and your role in the roll out."

She loves providing professional development to physiotherapists, allied health and education professionals, allied health assistants and swimming teachers.
